Want of the day: Croissant Necklace

Hello cats and kittens!

Ages ago I came up with the idea of "want of the day" which is pretty self-explanatory: It's the thing I want most on that day. Never continued the series because I'm a bad blogger but lying in bed today I thought to myself: "That's a 5 minute blog entry, I might as well type it while my noodles are cooking."

So that's why I'm doing.

My want of the day is this croissant necklace from "La Boutique de Marie Antoinette".

I was scrolling trough twitter when I saw that Misako Aoik retweeted the following:
Maria Antonia, better known as Marie Antoinette, was originally from Austria and only "changed" her name when she got married to Louis XVI, King of France and Navarre. Apparently he was a prude and didn't want to dance the horizontal tango with Maria Antonia, which is why she asked her mother, Maria Theresia - Holy Roman Empress, Queen of Germany - for advice in the sack. As far as I know some of those letters are still in existence. Talk about awkward.

Anywho, I clicked on it because I'm quite the fan of Maria Antonia and found this amazingness which is the croissant necklace! Isn't it fantastic?! I think it is.

What's the weirdest thing you found on the internet lately? Tell me in the comments below!

Lolita Blog Carvinal: A Comfy Lolita Outfit

Hello Everyone!

I am very sorry that I am neglecting this blog :( Maybe it's because I take almost all my pics with my smartphone and typing on my phone is such a hassle. I do feel bad about it because I just saw that I reached 91 followers, which is pretty awesome. Thank you very much <3

So, on to the actual topic! It's another Friday, which means it's Blog Carnival Friday. WEEEH! Today I'm talking about comfy Lolita outfits. See, here is the thing: I'm lazy. Or maybe it's not laziness but the fact that I like being comfy so much. Jenna Marbles would say "I ain't got time fo dat!".

I don't have time for outfits that are not comfy. That's why I don't wear high heels (or very reluctantly), that's why I don't wear corsets, that's why ALL my co-ords are comfy.

Now, how to I do that? How do I make all my outfits so comfy? Here's a short list on how to comfy Lolita:

  1. Wear flats. Even uncomfortable flats are more comfortable than heels.
  2. Exchange your blouses for cut-sews. Once you go cut-sew, you never go back. Especially if you're big boobed like me.
  3. All the shirring all the way.
  4. Get dresses that look good without a petticoat (I wouldn't suggest to go to a meetup in such a dress but it's good enough for lounging around your house or tea with your friends).
  5. Stop caring about the fact that your hair is so straight and embrace it. Or more generally speaking, wear your hair open, in it's natural state.
  6. Find a small head bow that fits everything and doesn't give you a headache.
  7. Chose tights over socks (that's a personal preference tho since socks tend to leave the pattern imprinted on my legs after I wear them).
  8. Find a make-up routine that takes the littlest amount of effort to make you look cute. For me that's bb cream as concealer, mascara only on the top lashes and a little blush.
  9. Screw jewelry.
However, if you are going to a meet-up, just suck it up and feel a little discomfort for a while. Pretty hurts ;-)

What are your tips for a comfy Lolita outfit? Leave it in the comments below.

Angelic Pretty: Happy Ice Cream

It has been quite the journey, hasn't it?

Well... it all starts waaay back in the spring of 2009. Still in school, I just turned 20 when I stumble across the English Angelic Pretty web shop (this web shop doesn't exist any longer, they shut it down for whatever reason in 2014). Since I got some money for my birthday I decide to order directly from a Japanese brand shop for the very first time.

Happy me is very very happy with the Happy Ice Cream Headdress that I ordered. My fable for weird/ridiculous looking headdresses started early as you can see. At the time, as I was still in school, not working, studying for my a-levels, I only was able to buy the headdress and not the matching JSK, but since I was in fashion school, I thought it would be easy to sew something matching.

Oh boy was I wrong! This particular shade of blue was nowhere to be found. No where! Not in my hometown, not in Vienna, not online... not anywhere! After I gave up looking for a fabric with polka dots, I tried to get a uni-coloured fabric. Again, no luck at all. It's just a damn hard fabric to match!

A year passes, I finished school, I move out. The dress is still in the back of my mind, taunting me, when it suddenly pops up in the sales comm. 180$ plus shipping. Kinda expensive for a university student, who can only work on Saturdays. Since rent want's to be paid, I cry all the tears and don't buy it.

Two months later, it pops up in the sales comm again. Same seller, she lowered the price. It's a lot cheaper not with only 120$ plus shipping. I message her that I have to transfer money to my PayPal account. She is fine with that. The transfer takes unusually long. I message her again after it took a long week to get the money on my account. She writes me back. The dress in gone. She thought I lost interest since it took so long.

ALL THE TEARS! All of them...

Times goes by, the dress is nowhere to be found. If it shows up on auction sites it's the wrong colour. I am frustrated, thinking about selling the headdress but I love it too much and since I bought it, I only wore it out twice. I don't want to give away the first piece I ever ordered directly from a brand store before I've worn it properly.

Now it's 2014. All my friends are looking for the dress. Everybody knows to look for it when they're in Japan but it's like the earth opened up and swallowed all the dresses. Once it showed up in the Closet Child online store. That day I woke up to 4 different messages telling me the dress in online, just to find out it's the wrong colour again.

Oh well. After 5 years of looking for it, I was pretty convinced I was never going to own it. Out of pure desperation I even messaged a girl, if she would sell me the dress, because I saw on her blog that she had it but I never got an answer and I felt bad about harassing her too.

Then, out of nowhere, I see that I have a Facebook message from somebody I don't know. It's the girl from the blog, she wants to sell the dress to me! I can't believe what's going on, I suspicious to no end, check her Facebook, her LiveJournal feedback, everything I can get my hands on and it seems legit. She's not a lot on Facebook and the correspondence takes what seems like forever. Not for a second did I believe that I would actually get my dream dress.

Until it was delivered this morning.

And it is sooooo perfect! It's more perfect than anything else I own, it'seven better than I thought it would be. It's super fluffy, the built in petticoat is amazing, it pretty much renders an extra petticoat unnecessary, unless you want super fluff. The full body shirring makes it amazingly comfortable even for a big-boobed girl like me without turning you into the Michelin mascot.

I can't wait to wear it out. Tomorrow there's a meetup in Vienna but it might be too cold to wear it and that really breaks my heart.

To come to an end, this was the story how it took me 5 years to hunt down my dream dress. Don't ever give up!

What are you currently looking for? Are you searching for your dream dress too? Maybe even longer than me? Tell me in the comments below!

Lolita Blog Carnival: Picnic Outfit and Menu

Hello cats and kittens!

It's another Friday, which means, it's yet time again for a Lolita Blog Carnival entry! The challenge this week was to create and outfit and a menu for a picnic.

I love picnic! I really do. When you live in a big city like Vienna, it's nice to get away from all the noise and the cars and since I don't like hiking, picnics are a great way to spend some time in the park and enjoy nature.

For my outfit I choose my Angelic Pretty Ala Card Tea Time JSK, because it has a food theme, which is fitting for a picnic. I paired it with my blue chiffon blouse and some Metamorphose socks. It's simple and cute, that makes it a great outfit for a picnic because you want to be comfortable sittin on the floor.

The menu is what I like to call the grown-up cheat version of picnic food, meaning it contains alcohol, looks fancy but it's super easy to make.

Originally Hugo is a cocktail made of Prossecco, elderberry syrup, lime juice and mint leaves but I'm allergic to Prosecco which is why I make mine a little different. I use a mix of sparkling water and white wine. Depending on how much alcohol you want you use more or less wine, of course, or you just skip it all together and just serve elderberry soda ;-) How much elderberry syrup you add depends on how sweet your wine is and how sweet you want the Hugo to taste. I don't like mine too sweet, which is why I use only very little. The recommendation on the bottle is a ration of 7:1, meaning 7 parts water, 1 part syrup but that's way too sweet for my taste!

If you want to put almost no effort into the picnic, french rolls/brioch is a great option. You can buy the ready made brioche and fill it with Nutella, jam, fruits, plain old butter, whatever you like! It tastes yummy and your fingers won't get sticky! A great plus when you're outdoors.

To show off to your guest a little, buy some ready made puff pastry and get creative! I found a post on 9gag that shows how to cut and fold puff pastry into awesome looking little artworks and you can literally use any kind of filling: fruit, jams, cream cheese, chocolat, nutella, etc. And if you don't want to go for sweet, use vegetables and chesse as filling :D

Those little suckers are probably one of the fanciest thing you can serve and it's so easy to make! You only have to watch out and not burn it (and they don't burn easily ;-)). They taste absolutely amazing! You're going to feel like you're in a french restaurant, not sitting on a blanket in a park somewhere.

Last but not least, I included some cheese balls. The recipe is from YouTuber Ochikeron and I decided to make them shortly before I started filming. The original recipe calls for Shiratamako (glutinous lumpy rice flour) but I used whole grain rye flour, to make it seem a little more healthy ;-) You can eat them like they are and they are super delicious, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, but you could also cut them in the middle and fill them with cream cheese and salmon. That would be over the top fancy for a picnic!

I hope you liked my ideas for a picnic menu. What would you bring to a picnic? Tell me in the comments below! And please check out all the other participants of this weeks challenge:

Lolita Blog Carnival: 5 New Lolita Holidays

Hello cats and kittens!

WGT was shit, not gonna say more about it. Not now at least.

Today is another Lolita Blog Carnival Friday. It's been a while since I took part in it but I really liked the topic this week, which is "Invite 5 New Lolita Holidays"!

So here are my 5 new holidays:

  1. Bloomers Appreciation Day
  2. I love bloomers, so should you! I wear them even when it's super hot. I don't feel comfortable without them!

  3. Godmothers Day
  4. For all the girls putting so much effort into the comm., organizing Meet-ups and Parties and just doing everything that is possible, even going out of their way to make Lolita more known and popular.

  5. Old School Day aka Maxi Pad Headdress Day
  6. Because we all have to be glad that we don't have to wear Maxi Pads with ruffles on them on our heads.

  7. Under appreciated Brand Day
  8. For Metamorphose, Putumayo, h.Naoto and all the other brand, who don't get enough love.

  9. Macaron Day
  10. Free macarons. Nuff said.
Again, I also made a video about this topic. Feel free to check it out if you like!

Summer Lovin'

Good day everybody!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day! Little bit too hot for my taste but I like it cold. 25° C is too hot for me XD Anywho, I decided to meet up with the boyfriend on one of Vienna's many fake beaches along the Donau and wear out my "Candy Shower" JSK from Metamorphose.

I'm going to enter Metamorphose's Spring and Summer Coordinate Contest. It ends this Sunday (23:59, May 25th JST).

It was a fun afternoon, except for the part where a drunk groom to be told me his bachelors party dared him to either get a kiss on the cheek from me or money. Don't you just love dumb bachelors party games? I gave him the rest of the change I had in my wallet (40 cents XD)) and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon without interruptions.

Being the pale vampire that I am, I'm very glad that I have my parasol that protects me from the evil UV rays. During the summer, I don't leave the house without it. No sunburns is worth the stares and it's also really great to shield yourself from unwanted picture takers :D

What is your favourite way to stay cool or cool down in the summer heat? Tell me in the comments below!

I love gifs!

I love gifs.

That's just it. I love them. They make me happy and I can look at them for hours on end!

And I love making gifs out of my videos. That's just hilarious to me.

This is the most recent gif I made. Yes, I'm wearing a cape!

It's like laughing at my own joke but look at it! It's so funny!

The footage is from my latest video: Sweet Lolita Transformation (with a spin because I can't actually make serious videos XD))

Yes, I'm still working on my WGT outfits... but I'm not really making progress ;___; 14 days to go. Panic!

What are you up to? Doing anything special? Tell me in the comments below!
